Anyone else ever find themselves saying, “There’s so much I have to do today?”

I thought so. Here’s why I don’t any longer. The power of words.

Each morning I’d find myself thanking God for allowing me another day only to then be bombarded with thoughts of the “musts’ “got to’s” and “have to’s” that were on the other side of my front door. Throughout the day I’d confess that I gotta go to the store, or I had to do this or I had to do that. After an in depth learning of the purpose of faith filled words and the power of the tongue, I knew I could no longer keep making those confessions.

My own confessions were contradicting what I was speaking in my morning devotions and moments of intimacy with the Lord. I’d go from gratitude for the day to the dread of its errands almost instantly. Little did I know, pride was sneaking in ever so slightly. I’d confess that the Lord ordered my steps and that His will was my own and within a matter of minutes my tongue would set my feet on a different path. The path of my own strength.

There was no ill intent but what was there was an opportunity to grow. My thinking and my words had to change. I had to learn that within the day that I expressed gratitude for, the grace of God would be there to yield to and allow me to “get” to do what I had been purposed to do. My faith filled words would produce faith…
